Experimental and CFD analysis of MHD flow around smooth sphere and sphere with dimples in subcritical and critical regimes

An overview of previous researches related to the problem flow around a bluff-body, using experimental and numerical methods, is presented in paper. Experimental investigation was performed by laser doppler anemometer, measuring velocity components water smooth sphere, sphere with dimples square channels. Measurement results subcritical field, fluctuation components, lift, drag pressure coefficients, 2-D Reynolds stress at quasi-stationary are conducted 1-D anemometer probe. The obtained compared simulations, which ANSYS-CFX software. For simulations quasi-steady-state flow, k-? turbulent model used, while for simulation unsteady fluid-flow comparison eddy structures, vortex shedding stresses, detached were used. Since showed good agreement, considered expanded introducing influence transverse magnetic field slight modification electrical conductivity working fluid. other physical properties fluid remained same, also corresponds realistically possible conditions. Numerical three different values Hartmann number very small (inductionless approximation). Comparisons analyzes made cases containing those an absence field.
